The Secret Scripture

“Love is not a sin.”

Roseanne McNulty (Vanessa Redgrave), an old woman held for decades in a mental hospital, wants to set down the story of her life before it is lost. She writes it in secret, hiding the pages, while Dr. William Grene (Eric Bana) is sent to assess whether the hospital can be closed. Jim Sheridan moves between her pages and her younger self (Rooney Mara) in 1920s and 30s Ireland, where the price of her passion is her freedom.
