The Seduction of Joe Tynan

“There are many ways to be seduced. Fame. Power. Love. Joe Tynan knows them all.”

Senator Joe Tynan (Alan Alda) is asked to lead the fight against a Supreme Court nominee, a job that could make his career and cost him an old friend. Jerry Schatzberg follows him through the deals it takes, with his wife Ellie (Barbara Harris) already seeing him only in pieces. Karen Traynor (Meryl Streep), the Southern researcher helping him build the case, pulls him toward a second life that his marriage, his principles and his name cannot all survive.
