The Serpent's Egg

(1977)Directed by Ingmar Bergman120 min · RMystery, Drama, Thriller
“The kind of terror that could never be... until now... until Bergman!”

Berlin, November 1923, and the money is nearly worthless. Abel Rosenberg (David Carradine), an American acrobat, drinks and drifts after his brother's suicide, with no work and no one to tell. He ends up leaning on his sister-in-law Manuela (Liv Ullmann) while Inspector Bauer (Gert Fröbe) starts asking questions. Bergman, working in Germany and in English, shoots the whole city in cramped rooms and dim, grainy light.
