The Shameless

“Love was not in the plan.”

In 2015 South Korea, a murder case leads detective Jung Jae-gon (Kim Nam-gil) to a mob enforcer who has gone into hiding. To draw him out, Jung goes undercover as Lee Young-jun and befriends the suspect's girlfriend, Kim Hye-kyung (Jeon Do-yeon). Oh Seung-uk, who wrote the script, calls it a hardboiled romantic noir, and he stages each meeting between the two as a quiet negotiation.
