Veronica (Barbara Steele), a newlywed on honeymoon in Transylvania, wants nothing more than a quiet drive with her husband Philip (Ian Ogilvy) along a lake road. Her car goes into the water, and the body that comes out is no longer hers, taken over by the spirit of a witch the villagers killed in the 18th century. Michael Reeves keeps the old vengeance and Philip's bewildered loyalty tangled together, with the Count von Helsing (John Karlsen) hovering nearby.
