The Shooting

“Suspenseful desert pursuit in the “High Noon” tradition”

A woman rides into a mining camp from nowhere and offers Willett Gashade (Warren Oates) money to guide her across the desert to a distant town. He goes along with his partner Coley (Will Hutchins), though her erratic behavior has them doubting her reasons. Monte Hellman keeps the trip to a slow, dry crawl, with a black-clad gunslinger (Jack Nicholson) trailing behind, and Willett grows more uneasy with every mile.
