The Sicilian

(1987)Directed by Michael Cimino116 min · RDrama, Crime, Thriller
“In Sicily, you stand by the law or by the Mafia. Only one man ever dared to stand alone.”

Salvatore Giuliano (Christopher Lambert) takes to the Sicilian hills in the early 1950s and starts a war on three fronts, against the Church, the Mafia, and the landed gentry. Behind him is a growing populist movement that wants Sicily free of Italian rule, and Don Masino Croce (Joss Ackland) and Prince Borsa (Terence Stamp) are watching it grow. Michael Cimino stages the revolt on a huge canvas, with Giuliano's band small against the hills.
