The Sign of Four

In Victorian London, Mary Morstan (Jenny Seagrove) has found a pearl in the post every year since her father vanished. She brings the mystery to Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett) and Dr. John Watson (Edward Hardwicke), and the trail runs back to a pact made by four convicts during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. Peter Hammond lets Watson's growing tenderness for Mary sit beside Holmes's cold attention to every clue.
