The Singing Detective

“When it comes to murder, seduction and betrayal, he wrote the book. Now he's living it.”

Dan Dark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a mystery writer confined to a hospital bed, his skin ravaged by a disease that makes every movement painful. Keith Gordon follows him as the detective stories in his head spill into the ward, with 1950s songs breaking out around Dr. Gibbon (Mel Gibson) and Nurse Mills (Katie Holmes). The film treats a sick man's imagination as both his escape and the thing he cannot get away from.
