“The skin moves the world!”

Curzio Malaparte (Marcello Mastroianni) is an Italian writer who wants to stay alive and keep his place in a country that has just lost the war. He works as a liaison between the Allied forces and the Italians, moving between Generale Clark (Burt Lancaster) and the Neapolitans living under occupation. Liliana Cavani adapts his memoirs, and Malaparte keeps making small bargains to survive, each one costing him a little more of his self-respect.
