The Sleeping Voice

(2011)Directed by Benito Zambrano119 minDrama, History

The war has been over for seven months, and Hortensia (Inma Cuesta) is still in a Madrid prison, seven months pregnant and under a death sentence. Her younger sister Pepita (María León) leaves rural Córdoba in November 1940 to be near her, taking work in the city under Franco's rule. Benito Zambrano shows how ordinary people survive when speaking up can cost them their lives.
