“Married and in love... with a man she didn't know or want!”

Virginia Cunningham (Olivia de Havilland) finds herself in a mental hospital with no memory of how she got there, and she cannot recognize her own husband, Robert (Mark Stevens). Anatole Litvak follows her treatment under Dr. Mark Kik (Leo Genn), as flashbacks start to show what may have broken her. Kik is the one person there determined to find the root of it, and she has to decide whether to trust him.
