The Snapper

(1993)Directed by Stephen Frears95 min · RComedy, Drama
“She's got a little secret and a lot of explaining to do.”

Sharon Curley (Tina Kellegher), twenty years old and living in a crowded Dublin house with her parents and her brothers and sisters, turns up pregnant and will not say who the father is. The neighbors take it up at once, and Stephen Frears keeps the family's kitchen busy with the talk. Her father Dessie (Colm Meaney) grumbles and sulks about it, and the film is mostly the two of them, Sharon and Dessie, working out how to stand in the same room.
