The Song of Bernadette

(1943)Directed by Henry King156 minDrama
“Here is greatness... wonder... and majesty... no human words can describe!”

In 1858, a peasant girl named Bernadette (Jennifer Jones) kneels in the Massabielle grotto outside Lourdes and says she has seen a beautiful lady. Prosecutor Vital Dutour (Vincent Price) and the other officials call her mad and try to shut her up, while Father Peyramale (Charles Bickford) wants the church kept clear of it. Henry King follows a town that cannot agree on what she saw, and the question of belief reaches everyone, from the doctor to the neighbors.
