The Song of Sparrows

“Chasing dreams. Finding hope.”

Karim (Reza Naji) is on his motorbike, heading from his village at the edge of the desert into the crowded streets of Tehran, because his daughter's hearing aid has broken just before her exams. He had worked on an ostrich farm until one of the birds escaped, and now he has no job and no money to replace it. Majid Majidi sets the family's standing, and Karim's pride in being its head, against what the city asks of him.
