The Sons of Katie Elder

“From the four winds they came, the four brothers, their eyes smoking and their fingers itching...”

Four brothers ride into Clearwater, Texas, for their mother's funeral, and John Elder (John Wayne) and Tom Elder (Dean Martin) find the family ranch has passed into the hands of a businessman named Morgan Hastings. Henry Hathaway lets the reunion carry most of the film, with Matt (Earl Holliman) and Bud (Michael Anderson Jr.) crowding into the arguments. The four sons barely know each other, and whatever they owe their mother is the only thing holding them together.
