The Sound of Music

“The happiest sound in all the world!”

In the years before World War II, Maria (Julie Andrews) is a postulant at an Austrian abbey who would rather be out on the hills than inside the walls. The sisters send her to Salzburg as governess to the seven children of Captain Georg von Trapp (Christopher Plummer), a widowed naval officer who runs his household like a ship. Robert Wise puts her at the center of it, a girl with a guitar and a lot of patience.
