The Sparring Partner

“Based on the crime and trial that rocked Asia.”

Nine jurors in a Hong Kong courtroom want to get to the truth about a young man accused, with his friend, of killing and dismembering his parents. Ho Cheuk-tin, making his directing debut, adapts the real 2013 case and splits the story between the trial and the jury room, where the debate turns heated. Henry Cheung (Yeung Wai-lun) and Angus Tong (Mak Pui-Tung) sit as the two defendants, and what binds them is the question the jurors keep returning to.
