Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) arrives at the start of his premiership as an understudy to the world's most powerful men, with a country to lead and no standing yet with the American president. Richard Loncraine, working from Peter Morgan's script, sets the friendship with Bill Clinton beside two marriages, so the politics are weighed against the people at home. The film is a story about relationships, between two leaders and between husbands and wives.
