The Spider's Stratagem

Athos Magnani (Giulio Brogi) arrives in his father's small hometown wanting to learn who killed the man, a antifascist hero shot in 1936, before Athos was born. Bernardo Bertolucci sends him door to door through a place that remembers the dead man warmly and the details of his death differently each time. Draifa (Alida Valli), his father's mistress, tells him one version, and what lies between the two of them stays unsaid.
