The State Counsellor

A general is found stabbed on the train from St. Petersburg to Moscow, and the only suspect is Erast Fandorin (Oleg Menshikov), because the killer passed himself off as him. The knife handle carries the initials BG, the mark of a terrorist group that keeps both capitals afraid, and Count Pozharsky (Nikita Mikhalkov) takes over the case alongside him. Yankovsky leaves Fandorin to clear his name in a hunt where he cannot be sure who is on his side.
