The State of Things

(1982)Directed by Wim Wenders121 minDrama
“They didn't want to kill him. They just wanted a story.”

Munro is a director on location in Portugal, making his own version of Roger Corman's The Day the World Ended, until the film stock runs out. The money goes with it, and the producer can't be found, so the crew waits in a hotel while Munro tries to track him down. Wim Wenders shoots the stalled production in black and white and lets the waiting fill the frame.
