The Steel Helmet
“Action story of our fighting G.I.'s!”
Sergeant Zack (Gene Evans) crawls out from a field of the dead in Korea with a bullet-dented helmet and a temper, and he falls in with a handful of stragglers cut off from their lines. Together with Private Bronte (Robert Hutton) and Lieutenant Driscoll (Steve Brodie), they take shelter in an abandoned Buddhist temple while Communist troops close in. Samuel Fuller, who shot it fast and cheap on an independent budget, keeps the camera tight on the faces.
