Lou Torrey (Charles Bronson) is a Los Angeles detective with a short temper and little patience for the rules. He gets sent to New York, where a case ties him to an old Sicilian Mafia family feud and a city that doesn't want him there. Michael Winner shoots the streets in grainy, hurried frames, and the whole film moves at the speed of a chase.
