The Stoning of Soraya M.

“When a deadly conspiracy became a shameful cover-up One witness refused to be silent”

Zahra (Shohreh Aghdashloo) wants a stranger to hear what happened to her niece, and she finds one in Freidoune (Jim Caviezel), a journalist stuck in a remote Iranian village in 1986 with a broken-down car. She tells him how Soraya (Mozhan Navabi) was married to Ali (Navid Negahban), a man who cared nothing for her, and how the village turned on her. Cyrus Nowrasteh stages the story as testimony, one woman's account of the day she has not been able to stop telling.
