The Story of Asya Klyachina, Who Loved, But Did Not Marry

Asya Klyachina (Iya Savvina) is a lame collective farm worker in a Soviet village, pregnant by a man who does not love her. She has two ways forward: marry Stepan (Aleksandr Surin), who wants her, or raise the child alone. Andrei Konchalovsky shows the gap between what she feels and what he offers, and the film was shown briefly in 1967 as Asya's Happiness before it was held back for twenty years.
