“A true story that proves a little determination goes a very, very long way.”

In 1994, Alvin Straight (Richard Farnsworth), a retired Iowa farmer and widower, hears that his estranged brother Lyle has suffered a severe stroke in Wisconsin. Alvin has no car and no driver's license, so he sets out on his old lawnmower. David Lynch, working from a true story, follows the slow trip across two states, with Alvin determined to reach his brother while there is still time.
