The Stranger

(1946)Directed by Orson Welles95 minThriller, Crime
“The most deceitful man a woman ever loved!”

Federal Agent Wilson (Edward G. Robinson) works for the War Crimes Commission, and he is patient and rumpled, sure that a missing Nazi is living under another name. His search leads to a small Connecticut town, where Prof. Charles Rankin (Orson Welles) teaches and is about to marry Mary Longstreet (Loretta Young), a judge's daughter. Orson Welles directed this 1946 picture, and Wilson has only a hunch to stand on.
