The Strawberry Blonde

(1941)Directed by Raoul Walsh97 minRomance, Comedy
“Times have changed, but Cagney hasn't!”

Biff Grimes (James Cagney) is a dentist's patient turned dentist in 1890s New York, and all he has ever wanted is Virginia Brush (Rita Hayworth), the strawberry blonde down the street. His best friend Hugo (Jack Carson) marries her instead, then pulls Biff into his shady business deals. Raoul Walsh fills the picture with period songs, and beside Biff stands Amy Lind (Olivia de Havilland), who sees him more clearly than he sees himself.
