The Sun Also Rises

“Chaos. Poetry. The sun rises.”

The Mother (Zhou Yun) wants her husband back, and she travels to find him in a Yunnan village. Her search sits beside other stories set in other time-zones, among them a campus where Dr. Lin (Joan Chen) and Teacher Liang (Anthony Wong Chau-sang) cross paths, and the Gobi Desert, where Jiang Wen himself plays Tang. Jiang Wen, directing, lets these stories drift into one another across the village, the campus and the desert without announcing the move.
