“Will things change for the better?”

Shin (Masahiko Tsugawa) is a young hoodlum in Osaka's slum, living off petty theft, street fights and whatever else the day offers. Nagisa Ōshima fills the neighborhood with people who sell blood and trade ID cards to get by, none of them expecting a future. Hanako (Kayoko Honoo) works the same streets, and what binds the two of them is the shared fact that neither has anywhere else to go.
