“The true story of the two cops called Batman and Robin”

David Greenberg (Ron Leibman) and Robert Hantz (David Selby) are patrolmen in New York City who push against their own department until they make detective. On the streets they get a nickname, Batman and Robin, and the film takes it from a true story. Gordon Parks, who also made Shaft, stays close to the pavement and the rough edges of 1970s New York.
