“Some fight to win. He fought to live.”

Harry Haft (Ben Foster) fought other prisoners in the camps to stay alive, and now he steps into American rings against champions like Rocky Marciano, hoping a famous fight might lead him to the first love he lost. Barry Levinson follows him through the memories and the guilt he carries into every bout. Miriam Wofsoniker (Vicky Krieps) is the one he is searching for, and the film keeps her at the far end of every fight.
