The Suspended Step of the Stork

Alexandre (Gregory Patrick Karr), a television reporter, wants a story that will matter, and he thinks he has found it in a Greek border town. An old man there resembles a politician who vanished years ago, and the Missing Politician (Marcello Mastroianni) may be him, though no one in the town will say so plainly. Theo Angelopoulos films it in long, slow takes, so Alexandre's search unfolds at the pace of the place.
