The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

“I can't get it out of my head. I'm gonna die today.”

Armed men take over a New York City subway train and hold its passengers for ransom, and the call lands on Walter Garber (Denzel Washington), a dispatcher at the control center who was only working his ordinary shift. His voice on the radio becomes the only line to Ryder (John Travolta), the man behind the hijacking. Tony Scott keeps the camera on Garber, a heavyset man in a dispatcher's headset, the train map glowing on the wall behind him.
