The Tale

“Our past is always present.”

Jennifer (Laura Dern) is a documentary filmmaker who wants to keep her version of her first love intact, the one she has told for decades about a summer at a riding stable when she was thirteen. Then her mother finds an old story she wrote at that age, and Jennifer starts questioning the people in it. Jennifer Fox, drawing on her own life, follows her as she interviews her memory like a witness and finds she may not be able to trust it.
