The Tarnished Angels

(1957)Directed by Douglas Sirk91 minDrama
“The Book They Said Could Never Be Filmed!”

A newspaper reporter named Burke Devlin (Rock Hudson) turns up at an aerial stunt show in the 1930s to write about the Shumanns' act. Roger Shumann (Robert Stack) is a once-great World War I pilot who now flies for crowds, while his wife LaVerne (Dorothy Malone) works as the show's parachutist. Douglas Sirk shoots it in black-and-white CinemaScope, and Burke's story gives way to LaVerne, whom Roger neglects and who looks back at him.
