The Teahouse of the August Moon

(1957)Directed by Daniel Mann123 minComedy
“All The Riotous Fun Of The Prize-Winning Stage Comedy!”

Nobody in the Okinawan village has asked for the school that Captain Fisby (Glenn Ford) has been ordered to build there, and what they keep steering him toward is a teahouse. Sakini (Marlon Brando), his interpreter, is cheerful, patient and impossible to pin down. Daniel Mann sets the occupation's orders against the village's own plans, with Fisby caught between them and Lotus Blossom (Machiko Kyō) watching him work it out.
