Prospera (Helen Mirren) was the ruler of Milan until she was usurped and banished to a mysterious island with her daughter Miranda (Felicity Jones). Julie Taymor changes Shakespeare's Prospero into a woman and has her use her magic to draw her enemies to the shore. It is a story about power held in grief and what a person decides to do with it.
