“Life is waiting.”

Viktor Navorski (Tom Hanks) just wants to get into New York, but the passport in his hand belongs to a country that no longer exists after a coup. Frank Dixon (Stanley Tucci), the airport official who can't let him in or send him home, leaves him to wait in the terminal at JFK. Spielberg builds the whole film inside one sprawling concourse and fills it with the people who work and pass through it.
