The Testament of Ann Lee

“The Earth will shake and tremble.”

In the 18th century, Ann Lee (Amanda Seyfried), a woman few would have noticed, begins to preach a faith in which men and women stand equal, and her followers come to revere her as the female Christ. Mona Fastvold tells it as a musical, with the believers shaking, singing and dancing their devotion in the Shaker sect Ann founds. At its center is a plain belief that no one stands above anyone else, in the pews or in the world.
