The Testament of Dr. Mabuse

(1933)Directed by Fritz Lang122 minCrime, Mystery, Thriller
“Madman? Monster? Murderer? Scientist?”

Commissioner Lohmann (Otto Wernicke) wants to know how a man locked in an asylum keeps directing a wave of crimes across the city. The patient is Dr. Mabuse (Rudolf Klein-Rogge), a hypnotist who spends his days writing out plans, while Professor Baum (Oscar Beregi Sr.) watches him with an interest that goes past medicine. Fritz Lang's story turns on how far one man's will can travel once he is no longer able to leave his room.
