“He'll steal your heart!”

Tolyan (Vladimir Mashkov) is a veteran Soviet officer in 1952, handsome in his uniform and easy with strangers. Katya (Yekaterina Rednikova) falls for him, and her 6-year-old son Sanya takes to him as the father he has never had. Pavel Chukhray lets the three of them pass as a family while the trade that actually pays Tolyan stays out of sight, and the boy's trust is what stands to be lost.
