The Thief of Paris

Georges Randal (Jean-Paul Belmondo) grew up rich in turn-of-the-century Paris, and he wants only to marry his cousin Charlotte (Geneviève Bujold). His uncle has stolen the inheritance and arranges her marriage to a wealthy neighbour. Louis Malle follows Georges as he takes the fiancé's family jewels, enjoys it far too much, and puts his whole future on a life of burglary.
