The Thin Red Line

“Every man fights his own war.”

Private Witt (Jim Caviezel) returns from absent without leave to rejoin C Company as they're ordered up a jungle ridge in the Pacific. Lt. Col. Tall (Nick Nolte) pushes the assault with an eye toward promotion while 1st Sgt. Welsh (Sean Penn) watches his soldiers fall. Witt moves through the violence wondering if any man survives intact, or if the cost simply breaks his conscience.
