The Third Lover

“Three's a crowd...until she whispered..."three's allowed."”

Albin Mercier (Jacques Charrier), a French journalist sent to Germany on assignment, can't say why he keeps drifting toward Andreas Hartmann (Walther Reyer), a celebrated writer, and his wife Hélène (Stéphane Audran). Soon Albin is paying visits while Andreas is away, trying to win Hélène and slide into the life her husband built. Claude Chabrol shows a marriage coming apart and a man's envy turning into a wish to become the husband.
