“Join the club.”

A real murder lands in the middle of the Thursday meetings, where Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan) and Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley) usually pick over cold cases for fun. Chris Columbus has the group pull in Joyce (Celia Imrie) and take on the case themselves, with the police watching them go. The film treats retirement as a place to start again, and the years behind these four are what make them good at this.
