The Tobacconist

Franz Huchel (Simon Morzé) is sent from the countryside to Vienna in 1937, with no idea what to do with a city or a girl. He learns the shop counter from Otto Trsnjek (Johannes Krisch), a war veteran with a missing leg, and from a regular named Sigmund Freud (Bruno Ganz), who buys his cigars there. Nikolaus Leytner sets the story against the weeks before the annexation, with Franz behind the counter and the tobacco shop's window facing the street.
