The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

(1948)Directed by John Huston126 minAdventure, Drama, Western
“The nearer they get to their treasure, the farther they get from the law.”

An old prospector named Howard (Walter Huston) says the mountains of Mexico hold gold, and two broke Americans, Fred C. Dobbs (Humphrey Bogart) and Bob Curtin (Tim Holt), have nothing left to doubt him with. John Huston sends the three of them out together, into hostile country with bandits on the trails. Gold is only a matter of digging, and the film is about what a man starts to feel once he has some.
