The Tree, the Mayor and the Mediatheque

Julien Dechaumes (Pascal Greggory), the socialist mayor of a small French village, wants to build an arts center, and he is sure it will put the place on the map. Éric Rohmer follows the plan as it meets opposition, with Marc Rossignol (Fabrice Luchini), the local schoolteacher, one of those who push back. Julien keeps talking up his project to anyone who will listen, a man in love with a building that does not exist yet.
